This
remarkably beautiful film, which features the incredible
Cirque du Soleil performers, is the latest 3D IMAX film
to hit theatres. If
you're able to ignore the cheesy narration from
X-Men’s Sir Ian McKellen (he drones on and on about
the celebration of the human spirit and the keys of
life), you’ll probably dig Journey of Man.
There
isn’t much of a plot, but rather a half-dozen
performances that range from drumming cavemen to
synchronized swimmers to gravity-defying acrobats - all
performing amidst gorgeous backgrounds, like Big Basin
State Park in California.
Just don’t feel gypped by the extremely short
running time - if you calculate the price per minute,
it’s about four times the cost of a regular film.

James Woods
stars as Jack Crow, the fearless vampire killer whose
parents were killed by, you guessed it, vampires. In
particular, Crow is hunting a master bloodsucker called
Valek, who is after a sacred cross that will make him
and his clan invincible. At one point, Crow’s sidekick
describes Valek as "a force unstoppable…unless we
stop him." It really can’t get much worse than
that. But the effects are cool and the film is wealthy
with carnage. (1:42 –
for nudity, extreme language and excessive bloody
violence)
