Peter Berg (Chicago
Hope) bursts onto the silver screen with his sick
directorial/writing debut about a bachelor party gone
horribly awry. Christian Slater leads the company of men
down a road of murder, lies and deceit so that his
pal’s (Jon Favreau) wedding can go off without a
hitch. A character study in how far the average person
will go to cover their own ass. Berg’s demented and
depraved script elicits surprisingly strong, if not
career performances from every actor in this fine
ensemble cast. The murder cleanup scene ranks second
only to the "brain detail" incident in Pulp
Fiction. (1:42 –
for violence, nudity, language…and lots of it)

Todd Haynes ode to
70s glam rock goes out of its way to say that it
isnt really supposed to be about David Bowie
(Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and Iggy Pop (Ewan McGregor), but
the similarities are too strikingly apparent. On the plus
side, the two stars sing the majority of the songs. On
the other plus side, McGregor does an amazing Iggy. But
the down side the film is a bloody mess is
way to powerful to ignore. Christian Bale (Little
Women) and Toni Collette (Muriels Wedding)
co-star. (2:00 for nudity, language
and violence)
